I would like to request for your support for my two daughters as they represent Canada at the World Karate Championship in Dublin, Ireland on October 27 to November 2, 2018.
It wasn't easy to become a part of Team Canada. They competed at 2 regional tournaments; one in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and the other one in Winnipeg, they both won in their divisions which secured their spot for the National Team Try Out. We flew to Ottawa in May for the National Championships. They competed against the best of the best martial arts athletes across the country. Both finished Top 4 on the over all standing in their events which qualified them to become a part of the official delegation representing Canada for the World Championship.
Both of my girls have dreamed of achieving their goals since they started training in Filipino Martial Arts. Lee Angela Igne is 16 years old, Grade 10 consistent honor student of the Maples Collegiate and a 1st Degree Black Belt. She has been in the martial arts since she was 4. Lourdes Lynn Igne is turning 12 on August 12, also one of the top students in Grade 6 at the Leila North School. She first competed in a martial arts tournament when she was 3.
Both are also columnist of the Filipino Journal, a local Filipino Community Newspaper. They write articles to inspire the youth in leadership, active living, balanced time for God, family, school and play and they also write about the Filipino Canadian Culture.
As a mom, their martial arts instructor and one of the national coach for the Team, I am very proud of them and I would like to really make their dreams come true to make their hard work and dedication come to reality and I am confident that they will grow as good leaders and examples to the community.
